We encourage you to create your own personal plan using our customized roadmap and workbook (coming soon). These tools have been designed to help you complete the orientation process in the most productive way possible, while also learning about the company, our goals, and challenges. Following this structured process throughout your orientation will enable you to quickly integrate into the company and improve your effectiveness. Use the roadmap as an overview guide, to lead you through the various steps proposed in the workbook — following training programs, meeting peers, studying information sources, etc. Once you begin work at Symyx, you should also discuss your roadmap/workbook with your manager, review any questions you might have, and modify your roadmap/workbook appropriately.

and experience levels needed to do different jobs, employees can make an accurate assessment of the gaps they are trying to fill.
Training curriculum and development opportunities
Symyx is building a curriculum of training programs for all employees to use as a resource to build their career and fill skill gaps. At Symyx, our managers play a
large role in your personal development, both in helping you craft your plan but also in creating and revealing development opportunities to you. Research has shown
that more than 70% of all development happens on-the-job and our managers are skilled at exploiting this opportunity. Examples of development opportunities include
work projects, stretch assignments, vacation cover, research, shadow assignments, attending meetings, giving presentations, writing reports or papers.
